Keeping the country secure

McCain seems to be emphasizing the fact that he has served in the armed forces, and hence is better equipped to keep the country safe.
I find it hard to buy that argument. With nothing but the highest gratitude to him and all the other veterans who have served the country, McCain didn't do anything spectacular in the war - he got shot down, and was a POW for many years.
I haven't heard a single story about McCain going in with his men, getting wounded but still managing to capture an area, or at least come out of there with all or most of his men safe and sound.
John Kerry had a purple heart too - the country chose a man who had never gone to war in his life - W. If the epitome of ineptitude, W, can fend of terrorist attacks, Obama will in fact make America a much safer country, not only by shoring the country's defenses, but also diplomatically, by shedding our "big bully" image.
